Little Free LibraryHuntsville and Porty Sydney's little free library

The Little Free Library is a large community book exchange. The Huntsville Library maintains two Little Free Libraries - one in Huntsville and one in Port Sydney.

You will find Huntsville's Little Free Library in front of the Algonquin Theatre in the warmer months (May-Oct), and at the Summit Centre during the snowy months.

The Port Sydney Little Free Library is at the Port Sydney Community Hall.

The project is a collaboration between the Library, Huntsville Festival of the Arts, Rotary Club of Huntsville and the Town of Huntsville. The Little Free Library aims to promote literacy and collaboration in our community where people can share their favourite books and stories with one another.

Little Free Libraries began in 2009 when Todd Bol of Wisconsin built a one room school house to fill with books in tribute of his mother. Since then, they have been popping up all over the world. For more information visit the Little Free Libraries website.

How it works

  1. Take a book to read from the Little Free Library.
  2. Bring it home, to a park, or read on the beautiful stone bench.
  3. Bring back another book in it's place.
  4. Follow us and share your experiences on Facebook and Twitter. Don't forget the hashtag #LittleFreeLibrary in your posts!
