Huntsville Public Library's goal is to ensure that the library and its resources are accessible to everyone.

Accessible collections and assistive devices

Accessible collections

We have the following accessible formats:

  • Large print books
  • Audiobooks on CD
  • Playaway audiobooks
  • eBooks and audiobooks from OverDrive and Hoopla

Assistive devices

We have a number of assistive devices available:

  • CCTV print magnifier
  • DAISY reader
  • A computer with JAWS and Zoomtext assistive technology, and a large print keyboard
  • A walker with a seat and basket
  • Magnifying glasses

Accessible services

If you are housebound, or in an assisted care or long term care facility, the Visiting Library Service can provide services to you.

Centre for Equitable Library Access (CELA)

The Centre for Equitable Library Access (CELA) offers accessible, alternative ways of reading, including:

  • DAISY audiobooks;
  • Braille;
  • E-text; and
  • Described video.

Register for CELA's services

You can register for CELA services. You will need an active library card to register.

Request titles

You can request titles from the CELA collection or they can select titles for you based on your reading interests. CELA will deliver materials to your home or you can download them directly to a DAISY Reader or other device.

The Huntsville Public Library aims to make our website accessible and easy to use for everyone. Our website and all of its pages comply with the World Wide Web Consortium Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0. This is a requirement in the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act.

There are accessibility settings that you can use in your operating system and web browser to improve your website experience. This includes:

  • Changing text size;
  • Mouse pointer visibility;
  • Colours;
  • Fonts;
  • Resolutions;
  • Contrast; and
  • Magnification settings.
