OverDrive includes current, popular fiction and non-fiction eBooks. Download to read on your device. You can use the original OverDrive app or the new Libby app to access OverDrive on a mobile device.

The loan period for OverDrive eBooks is 14 days. Amazon Kindle devices currently do not work with OverDrive, with the exception of the Kindle Fire tablet (Android device).

Hoopla lets you borrow eBooks to read in your web browser or enjoy offline on your smartphone or tablet. Limit of four downloads per month.

The loan period for eBooks is 21 days. Hoopla eBooks are not compatible with eReaders.

Getting started with Hoopla

You will need the following to use Hoopla:

  • A library card.
  • An internet connection.
  • A computer, tablet or smartphone.
  • The Hoopla app for iOS or Android (for your smartphone or tablet).
  • A Hoopla account.

Create your Hoopla account

To create your account:

  1. Begin by visiting Hoopla's website.
  2. Enter your email address and create a new password.
  3. Select Huntsville Public Library as your library.
  4. Choose your Hoopla notification options.
  5. Link your library card by typing in your barcode, and check the box that you agree to the terms and conditions.
  6. Select “sign me up”.

You can also register by using the mobile app on your iOS or Android device.

Using Hoopla on a computer

  1. Search or browse for eBooks.
  2. Click on an eBook to see more details.
  3. Select “borrow” to check out the title on your account.
  4. You can now view your content.
  5. You can only stream eBooks on a computer.

Using Hoopla on a tablet or smartphone

  1. Download the Hoopla app from the App Store (iOS) or from Google Play.
  2. Launch the app and log in to your account.
  3. Search or browse for eBooks.
  4. Click on an eBook to see more details.
  5. Select “borrow” to check out the title on your account.
  6. You can now view your content.
  7. You can stream or download to a mobile device.
  8. Use a Wi-Fi connection instead of using a cellular connection to save your data.

EBSCO eBook Collection

The EBSCO eBook Collection has eBooks in a variety of subject areas, including classic literature, reference, and fiction.

You will need to create an account with EBSCO to access this eBook collection. The loan period for EBSCO eBooks is seven days.
