Springfield Farm: 1869-2019

A Historical Perspective of the Land, The Holinshead Family and Huntsville by Shelley Yearley

This book chronicles what is understood about the history of the First Nations peoples on this land as well as the 150-year history of the Holinshead family and Springfield Farm. This unique compilation explores the lives lived on the shores of Fairy Lake alongside the growth of Huntsville, as captured in stories, newspaper articles, documents, photographs and post cards.

In addition to a comprehensive summary of the lives of William and Lucy Jane Holinshead and the operation of a farm and resort, information about their descendants as well as cottagers on the farm are included. Furthermore, artifacts from Brunel SS No 5 and the Huntsville area provide glimpses into life in different periods.
