Author Talk with Brenda Missen at Arrowhead Provincial Park
This is a Partnership for the Planet with Arrowhead Provincial Park, Cedar Canoe Books and Huntsville Public Library. Join Ontario author Brenda Missen as she shares Tumblehome, her moving, timely memoir about our intrinsic connection with the Earth.
Tumblehome is available for purchase at Cedar Canoe Books (Downtown Huntsville, 72 Main St E), or you can purchase it at the event for $20 (cash only).
All registered attendees will enjoy free day use access to Arrowhead Provincial Park on the day of the event. Registration for this event is required.

Borealis: Documentary Viewing for Adults
In his new feature documentary Borealis, acclaimed director Kevin McMahon (Waterlife) travels deep into the heart of the boreal forest to explore the chorus of life in Canada’s iconic wilderness. How do trees move, communicate and survive the destructive forces of fire, insects, and human encroachment? Borealis offers an immersive portrait of the lifecycles of the forest from the perspective of the plants and animals that live there.

The April Lit Kit box celebrating planet earth contains an eco-friendly craft & activity and a library item from our collection for the user to borrow. Return the library item but keep everything else!

Earth Day Sewing Workshop with Mary Spring and Terri Howell
If you think that you are too small to make a difference, try sleeping with a mosquito in your room. Design and sew a postcard that shows others what you love in nature and think about how you might work to protect that forever. All supplies provided.

Make an Upcycled T-Shirt Scarf
Celebrate Earth Week by bringing a LARGE worn out t-shirt and getting crafty! With scissors and some ideas, kids can turn a well-loved t-shirt into a scarf! For families with children ages 6-12. Registration required. Registration opens March 21.

Join the District of Muskoka’s Climate Initiatives Coordinator at the Huntsville Public Library over lunchtime on Monday, April 24th to learn about the big impact of small lifestyle changes that individuals in Muskoka can make to help support the environment. The fight against climate change is one that requires support and involvement from everyone in our community, and the District of Muskoka will share some resources, tips and tricks for how you can live more sustainably and protect our amazing natural environment in Muskoka. Bring your lunch and learn what you can do as an individual, homeowner, business owner, employee, and/or curious citizen to help reduce Muskoka’s GreenHouseGas (GHG) emissions and protect our environment!
